I feel like this series would have been better as a movie. The ending is something I would definitely cry over normally, but it didn’t hit me as hard as Id like. I think it’s because there’s only really one character Riko tried being friends with actively and I dunno. It felt kinda so-so? Riko sucking at the beginning makes sense. Her not improving is probably fine if they didn’t play it as a joke in the final episode. A well-written comedy still needs its moments of seriousness. I think whoever wrote this really struggled with that balance. And speaking of balance, the sense ofurgency felt pretty skewed.

I guess I dont mind so much that the girls take time to relax, but it doesn’t feel very well used. The girls are out having fun, sure, but there’s no meaningful emotional connection.

If they rewrote this as a movie and focused more on the relationships between the girls and made the lighthearted moments a small breather from the seriousness of the situation, this would have hit way harder and Id have loved it more.

As it is, it’s just okay.
