Review of Tokyo Revengers

First of all it is important for people who complain about how "unrealistic" it is for teenagers to be in biker gangs and them having knifes , to understand what the bosozoku lifestyle is about. Basically bosozoku are teenage biker gangs whose members are usually 16-20 yr olds, they just fight and ride bikes and have fun but gangs fight and sometimes it gets pretty violent ending up in someones death.Not all Bosozoku are bad but many of them are, the ones with heart lead good Bosozoku gangs which in the anime would be the early yrs of Toman or Black dragons first generation. Sometimesthese bosozoku turn into yakuza which is basically japans mafia which happens to Toman in the future. I would suggest u to watch a documentary made by vice about japans most violent biker gangs(its available on youtube).Fyi these types of gangs have almost disappeared in the present.
Some people say that the mc is boring,a complete loser and just not likable and i agree till some extent but that's kinda the point of his character, he's not meant to be a genius who was always winning in life throughout his life. Its about how one learns from his past mistakes and tries to render them with this supernatural
power gifted to him. His determination and courage is AMAZING to see in the manga, how he went from running away from his problems to facing them head on. He's a character who u will eventually learn to appreciate.
The highlight of this series has to be its characters who are all super well written,eg;mikey,izana,draken,sanzu,hakkai,taiju,yuzuha,smiley,angry,kakucho,etc.I like the characters a lot because they are just very original and soo much fun to watch especially characters like Smiley or Hanma. The whole bosozoku lifestyle was presented really well in the series which makes sense coz the author ken wakui was part of some gang. Also,This show is going to have some great plot twists too.
The only problems with the anime were the animation and the pacing at some parts of the story for eg;ep 19 hanma vs draken was just not very fun to watch
even though there was a lot of hype for it, it didnt live up to the expectation but rest of the series the animation was nice.
Personally i enjoyed the show a whole lot and hope it gets renewed for a second season coz the story is only gonna get better and better from here onwards.
Im happy i was able to enjoy this masterpiece of a series, Thank you Ken Wakui.
