Coyote Ragtime Show · review
Coyote Ragtime Show isn't particularly deep, it's just a fun heist plot about a bunch of space-faring outlaws. And sometimes that's all you need to have a good time. The settings are lively and creative, and the characters - particularly the charismatic protagonist, Mister - are fun and likable. It's rare to see an older main character in anime, so I saw Mister's grizzled age as a welcome change from the norm. The villains are a lot of fun as well, an inventor and her 12 robot "daughters" named after the months of the year, each with her own powers, quirks, and memorable personality. At leastin theory; at only 12 episodes, we don't really get to know a lot of this extended cast very much, so some of Coyote Ragtime Show's concepts - while interesting - end up feeling a little half-baked.
Still, I think there's more to like about this series than not, and if you just want a short fun romp, this show's got you covered.
