The story has several inconsistencies. If Elle dislikes martial arts, her reasons should go deeper than just cleaning the gym, as disliking cleaning doesn't equate to hating combat sports. The characters, including Elle, Kazuki, and Ruo, lack depth; I can’t name three distinct traits about them beyond their appearances and relationships. Elle's main goal of finding a boyfriend detracts from the martial arts theme, similar to the romantic subplot overshadowing basketball in Girl Got Game. Kazuki's dog, Choppy, resembling Elle is unrealistic, and it's odd that characters confuse Elle for a dog. Gigi, the gym coach, appears more like a baby than a fierce figure, andit’s unusual for him to expect Elle, a teenager, to cook for him.
The subplot about Kazuki's sister feels out of place since it's introduced late in volume 3, making it feel like filler. Additionally, the inconsistent art style, with characters shifting between full-size and chibi, is frustrating. Lastly, Gigi seems like inappropriate name for a kickboxing champion. While I wouldn’t discourage others from reading the series, it simply wasn’t to my taste.
