Review of Monster
Art is subjective and this is only my opinion. This is an absolute masterpiece, not just as an anime, it's one of the best stories I've ever seen. The philosophical and psychological aspects are amazingly well done. Johan Liebert is the best anime villain I've ever seen. He is so compelling, complicated and psychotic. I get that most people had a problem with the slow pacing but I enjoyed it very much. This is very reminiscent with the never ending battle between Batman and Joker, and I'm a big fan of Batman, so I loved seeing Kenzou Tenma keep his moral compass till the veryend, even beyond his breaking point. This is the most non-anime anime I've ever seen. There are no cute girls, cheesy dialogue, shonen tropes, or epic animation. It just told the beautiful story...of a monster.
