Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion
NOTE: I watched this anime along time ago, when I was quite young and did not understand "much", I am reviewing based on what I remember and understand now. This review IS inaccurate. Yes, I do understand that there are several hidden meaning's in this anime. However even with those hidden meanings and allegories this anime is just a pain to watch, a kid crying for half the show is just complete nonsense. The characters piloting the Evangelion, a great symbol to this anime, promotes each characters a "sense of purpose". I do recognize the symbols and allegories of this anime to be exceptionalhowever the way it is presented, the way the characters are developed is just completely tedious. What I mean is, my first reaction to all these "hidden meanings" is just a "So what?" The meanings aren't much of a banger as well as the story itself. Not just that but the anime is literally tagged ACTION as it's FIRST tag, I expected the MC to toughen up and perform unexpected and memorable fights, but nope, the only fights I saw were with their weak selves. They literally take up a whole season of episodes to complete a single task. This anime is literally just 10 episodes of build-up, 1 episode of actual action, 15 episodes of crying. I definitely do respect this anime and the fans of it, like any other anime. But I just didn't really enjoy it in my opinion.
Again, this review is to hopefully clarify the reason behind my rating and is based on my experience when I was MUCH MUCH younger, I probably just didn't understand any of the hidden meanings in it.
I believe that my rating could change if I were to re watch it now.
