Review of Natsume's Book of Friends

This anime definitely has some interesting aspects but for me it kinda felt like a cartoon for children. BTW this was my first review I've ever written so take it with a grain of salt. STORY 6/10 All of the episodes are pretty much the same and it makes it kinda boring. Each episode pretty much goes like this: A spirit or "youkai" needs Natsume's help with a problem and then the whole episode is them solving it. That's why it reminded me of a childrens cartoon because it's a very repetative and simple structure. Even though all of these negative aspects it still felt pretty heartwarminghence why I still gave it a decent score.

ART 6/10
The art in this anime isn't actually too bad for it's time but I prefer the newer art styles that we have nowadays. Overall I think the art was fair.

SOUND 6/10
I always skip the anime opening so I don't really have anything to say about that and there wasn't any problem with the sound quality either. The voice acting didn't really feel remarkable and just felt pretty standard, but I have to say that the soundtracks really helped with the heartwarming moments. Overall the sound was pretty good.

CHARACTER 7/10
I like the main character and his personality. The cat though (the main characters companion) is a different story. I found the cat pretty annoying at times since he was loud and a bit obnoxious which isn't really my type of humour. I like how creative they were with the youkai's but it wasn't enough to make the story interesting I have to say. But overall the characters were good.

Enjoyment 6/10
At the end of the day it boils down to enjoyment and because of the repetative structure I didn't have that much of it but that heartwarming feeling you get at the end of the episodes and a few funny moments lead it to being a 6/10.

OVERALL 6/10
If you average out the scores it gets a 6/10 and that's just how I feel, the story was repetative and simple but still heartwarming. The sound was standard. The art seems pretty good for its time but still a bit outdated. Some characters were good but some annoying.

I think this anime definitely is worth a watch and I think many people would like this anime but it's just not for me.
