So terrible it’s brilliant, DMC shows us all what I hope is an accurate representation of the life of a death metal band. Negishi is our main character, and he’s about as generic as they come; bland, timid, drinks green tea. But after moving to the city in hope of achieving his goals and joining an indie band, life hands him his sour lemons, and pushes him in the complete opposite direction, forcing him to become a metal vocalist in order to pay the bills. A simple plot, executed brilliantly. It features all the dumb shit metal musicians have to do in order to appease their fansand gain a reputation, including demean themselves and ‘rape’ things. Yep. You’ll hear that word a lot in this show, folks. And unless you’re especially hardened to it, it’s best to take this show with a pinch of salt. Seriously, trigger warning.

But other than the aforementioned, it’s not a bad show. Kept me watching, had a semblance of plot, and got a couple of laughs out of me. In no way a masterpiece, but something every
Metal fan should probably watch. Even if it’s just for the ridiculousness of it all.
