Review of Shiki
Usually when we watch anime we don't want something clichéd, but we want to watch something unique. Now unlike some vampire animes, Shiki is old school clichéd, in in this case, that's what we want when it comes to vampires. No offense to the people who love Twilight, but we don't want friendly vampires, who are falling in love with humans, who sparkle in the sun light (lol). Story-9 Art & Sound-9 Characters-8 Enjoyment-9 ____________ Overall-9[Story]
Story takes place in area I guess you can call 'isolated' village. It starts out with mysterious deaths that were occurring all over the village. In the beginning, no has any idea of what's going on, only the viewers. The story starts up smooth and continues on a good pace.
[Art & Sound]
I really did enjoy the art in this anime a lot, but there was one thing I disliked and that was some of the character's hairs. There are at least 3 characters who have weird hairstyles, hairstyles you would see on either bleach or one peace or etc. Other than that the characters were well drawn in my opinion. The sound was also rather good. The music helped being the atmosphere in some scenes and the English voice acting was well done.
[Character]
While watching this some of you may wonder, "who is the main character?" Well there are two main characters in Shiki, and I feel one of them didn't get as much development as the other. I also feel that Megumi should have been one of the main characters rather than a supporting character since it seemed she's gotten just a little more character development than other supporting characters.
[Overall]
Overall I really enjoyed Shiki. It had the key elements to be one of those good vampire shows; mystery, violence, drama and a lot of blood!
I really recommend this to anyone who is looking for the good ol' vampires rather than the ones from Twilight.
