Review of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
The best thing you could do to describe this movie is a fantastic surprise. Now Haruhi is an average series at best. It had a very funny and creative first season. The second season, not so much. One thing you can say about Haruhi is that it got one of the best anime movies I've ever seen. Story: The story of the movie was fairly easy to understand but not at all boring. Basically Haruhi disappears one morning and no one remembers her but the main protagonist Kyon. Kyon has to find out why Haruhi disappeared and most importantly, change everything back. The story is very simple and effective with many twists as the series is known for. The plot is perfectly paced with nothing ever feeling rushed or incomplete.
Art:
Alright don't get me wrong the art in the movie is great. The problem I had is I felt they could've done a little better. The art is very good for it's time but I was hoping for a bigger improvement. That's probably just me being to picky though
Sound:
The music was done very well and fit every situation that it was put in. Not the most memorable sound track ever but there are a couple worth listening to in your free time.
Character:
This is the best part of the movie in my opinion. The original characters from the series are all present here and still steal the show for me. The difference is this movie gave lots of character development to all the characters. I won't get in to all of the development as you should see it for yourself, but I will say look out for Yuki Nagato.
Overall:
This movie was great and should not be missed by anyone who has seen the Haruhi series. If you have not seen the series you probably should before watching this movie as it will be quite hard to understand if you have not. This is probably the best anime movie I have ever seen and it definitely made me more of a Haruhi fan than I was before. In my opinion this movie should be watched by everyone as I know they will enjoy it.
Overall Score:10
