STORY: The anime takes place during the Victorian-era in England. The plot primarily focuses on the relationship between Ciel Phantomhive and his butler Sebastian. Even though it is episodic, there are some in-depth storylines that the anime does get into (especially when it involves the past of the Phantomhive family). There is a lot of action, history, mystery and comedy! CHARACTERS: Ciel Phantomhive: He's very mature for a 13-year old! He has a cold soul and always serious and out for vengeance! Ciel is the owner of his family's company and is being taken care of by his butler/guardian. He is still a child a heart becauseCiel loves to play games (primarily chess). Ciel is also seen wearing an eyepatch during the anime.
Sebastian: He is a hell of a butler. Sebastian's loyalty does without question. He is very devoted to protect Ciel and will do anything under his command. Sebastian can also be seen as a mysterious figure... Since this man can do it all... who is he really? What is his main intentions?

OVERALL:
I've watched this anime DUBBED in English and the voice overs are pretty good. Personally, the characters play a big part behind the anime's success. It is great to see the storylines and pasts of Ciel and his family (along with some of the other characters too). Plus, the mystery and cliffhangers in the episodes contain the suspense that makes you want to watch more. Luckily, there are some comedic relief to balance the serious elements out. Even though there are a few flaws in the anime, I definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys the mysteries of crime and history, and the comedic relief that lets us continue to laugh and enjoy the fun.
