Review of Sword Art Online
Some rip offs are even better than the source material. I will be focusing on Story, Character, art style and enjoyment for this review. {Spoilers may be ahead} Story: The story for sword art online is great for the most parts. Which follows our protagonist that is trapped inside a virtual reality game while being unable to get out. At the beginning of the show I was fairly interested, however it turned out to be another anime with a good premise but with awful execution. This show wasn't as good as I expected. Plot doesn't always matter, the execution is the most important aspect of an anime. Characters:The characters aren't any better either, the main character meets some girls who he develops this sort of romantic relationship with. I especially liked the girl Ayano Keyko, I thought her relationship with Kirito was actually cute. However after developing a little romance, the show forgets about those characters and decides to make Asuna our heroin. If the show was going to ultimately hook Kirito with Asuna anyways, then why didn't they just focus on her from the start instead of creating these side romances which has nothing to do with the story. This can't even be considered a harem, since the characters were never shown later on. The romance between Asuna and Kirito also fell flat and it felt very forced. Later in the show, they introduced this young girl called Yui, she just felt like this filler character who had no purpose in the entire show!
Art:
Admittedly I actually like the art style of this anime. This is the type of art style that I am always looking for in anime, because it gives me "anime" vibes. Sadly I had to drag myself through this mess while hoping this will get better.
Enjoyment:
The awful character development, poor romance and unnecessary characters made it very difficult for me to sit through this mess.
