Review of Gintama

I want to take my time with this gem —2019 Still taking my time absolutely love this show —2020 Why did I pause this series especially when it was getting soo good —2023 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I’ve finally finished Gintama and all I gotta say is, what a ride. I will admit it was hard to get into, as it should be watched in moderation since it mainly focuses on comedy --and doesn’t take itself that seriously. Gintama could have been a masterpiece if it was structured better, nonetheless, I do still consider this series dear to me. Despite having some of the best-written, drama-driven and action-heavy serious arcs in anime,I still appreciate the Comedy bits and the dynamic they bring to the series. I will admit some of the jokes aren’t funny or fly over my head, but when they land they land. Few anime have ever made me laugh as much as this series has and when the show decides to take itself seriously It always drives a meaningful message with each arc.

What made Gintama so appealing to me was its overall nature. I can’t really explain it, but despite being ridiculous in its ecosystem of aliens, samurai, etc, it just works. Gintama also has a wide cast of characters that I love, some that come to mind are Hasegawa, Hijikata, Sougo, Katsura and Kaguya. These characters honestly steal the show sometimes and it’s always entertaining when they’re on screen.

Like I said before it's been a ride, I’ve absolutely loved Gintama it made me laugh, cry, and even made me reflect on things with some of its thoughtful and meaningful episodes. I can’t wait to dive into not only Gintoki’s but other character's past, looking forward to the next season :)
