Review of Hyouka

Hyouka is an anime that features mystery with a tad bit of romance and comedy plus a good deal of slice of life. I myself, watch and read enough mysteries to say that Hyouka is one of the best mystery anime you can come across to. But, unlike the usual mystery stuff, Hyouka is unique and definitely better than most mystery anime ( I actually consider it the best mystery anime ) and to explain that i have to expose, of course a little spoilers to get my points understood. Story First of all, the usual anime mysteries will involve murders, thefts, kidnappings, etc and Hyouka isclearly not one of those, that is why this anime will disappoint you if you come looking for those plots. Although you shouldn't be too quick to judge it, because it is certainly amusing in many different ways. For example: most detective stories focuses on main character as detectives on gathering clues about the ongoing mystery enthusiastically as possible , but in Hyouka's case the MC(Oreki Houtaro) is a lazy bum that will avoid any unnecessary actions that will put efforts and waste his so called "energy reserves" and on top of that, if he does investigate he doesn't come looking for clues rather, the clues goes to him with the help of his club mates known as Classic's Club and sometimes unexpected lucks.

Hyouka moves on with the story because of the adventurous heroine that keeps dragging the lazy mc into mysteries she can't unravel herself. There are some parts that features a heavy slice of life feel, you should look forward to it.

Art and Sound Effects

I am speechless on how the animation and sound effects are greatly compatible with the anime itself. There is only one flaw i see in art which is the character design of Ibara Mayaka and Fukube Satoshi. For me both have the same face patterns.

As for the Sound Effects, i don't see any flaw not even slight mistakes that would degrade the anime. Both openings and endings are great music that you will find relaxing to listen to.

Characters

Lastly, the character development is the poorest category of the anime but certainly not bad. There are times where the characters overreact to situations and gives off an unusual behavior that most people will find weird or inappropriate.

Overall

I really enjoyed Hyouka's uniqueness, bit of romance, funny moments, relaxing atmosphere yet sometimes full of exciting adventures/mysteries.

I will rate this anime as 9/10. Definitely an anime you should watch.
