Review of Fate/Zero
Was wondering what the hype was about, and after watching this I now get it The story is unique, which is rare nowadays when you have so many shows copying the same character builds and themes. The idea of all of these epic Kings from the past being brought into the present day to war with each other, serving under magicians is just not your classic isekai, shonen, romcom etc. storyline Add to that and it's hard to discern a single protagonist, which is also different. But the fact that the art is so stunning, the music, the acting all comes together making this so engaging Also the dark themesit covers. There is a dark realism reflected in the characters and even the color palette.
The bad guys are truly evil, their evil acts are reminiscent of the real world. Not just your typical "bad guy" in a movie or anime. As uncomfortable as it is to confront, the kidnapping and torturing of children is a big problem in our world, and this show doesn't shy away from that reality
Most anime and shows shy away from uncomfortable topics, which takes away from the realism for me, and feels "neutered" so to speak. This is one thing a appreciate about anime in general as compared to western animation, but this show exemplifies this
But what's much greater about this show is also the dialogue between Iksander and Saber in episode 11. This is another mature topic, because it is something that is hard to grasp without real life experience. Iksander explains his philosophy to Saber and humiliates her by tearing down her own, and making herself see the blindspots in her own belief system
However it is also apparent from this conversation that there is no "perfect philosophy". I really how this is shown
And in episode 12 hearing Archer's viewpoints on the will to have and manifest it into being is awesome. The way he breaks it down is dope
