Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion
This show is really on another level. I've been watching anime for about 4 years now and this was the one that really pushed my perceptions on what anime is and the stories it can tell. Extremely surreal, especially if you watch the wrap up movie. I have never seen another anime or show that really can compare to this. 10/10 would recommend, but maybe not to brand new people to anime. This is a must watch if you consider yourself a fan of anime. Apparently I need to write a longer review, so I'll talk about Shinji Ikari. I resonates with me because he isa lost child way in over his head. He doesn't want to pilot the mech ( Eva) and for good reason. It causes death and destruction in its wake, and it's understandable to not want to be a part of that. It's only when he meets our cast of characters and really gets some friend in his life when he decides to take up the mantle. And that's what I love about him. He doesn't want to, but he does his duty. A duty only he can do. And when he finally does take up his responsibilities, that's when the conflicts set in. Watching those unfold, how they affect his relationships, and how they affect his mental health, al make this truly a masterpiece of animation. I cannot recommend this highly enough. You NEED to watch this show.
