Review of Devilman: Crybaby
This anime is definitely one of my favorites cause it has a lot of blood and demons. The animation by Science SARU and Masaaki Yuasa is fluid, surreal, and expressive. It stands out visually from most modern anime—characters have exaggerated movements and features, which adds to the emotional and chaotic tone. The anime explores human nature, good vs evil, war, sexuality, identity, and existentialism. It's a tragic allegory that reflects on how fear, hatred, and ignorance can corrupt society. The emotional weight is immense, especially in the final episodes. It shocks you, then breaks your heart. Characters' pain and loss are raw and unapologetically brutal. The music by Kensuke Ushio blends electronic beats with melancholic melodies. It's just perfect.
The pacing is tight—only 10 episodes. It doesn’t waste time and hits hard from start to finish.
Ryo Asuka and Akira Fudo are complex and compelling.
The bond between them drives the narrative and is the emotional core of the show.
Violence, sex, gore, and nudity are shown in disturbing detail.
Not everyone can handle the explicit nature—it’s definitely not for younger or sensitive viewers.
The final episode is powerful but controversial. Some love the heartbreak and message, others find it nihilistic or too sudden.
These are my personal favorite things about this anime so if you blood, violence, gore, brutality of killing people then definitely watch Devilman Crybaby.
