This is a really great shojo that still grips onto action elements. The characters are developed, the underlying "feminine" themes of personal growth, quest for love, duty to family are all present but so are many others like being courageous, intelligent, and well-rounded. The main character is super loveable and the artwork is gorgeous. It never feels overly ditzy or sappy without cause. The ties to the natural world and the elements are probably my favorite part of the series. Overall a super solid watch for the viewer type. If you aren't into shojo, don't watch it. If you like shojo you will love it,pretty simple!
