Review of Parasyte: The Maxim

~~SPOILERS~~ The writers jumped around a lot near the end, skipping over exposition and explanation that would have been really nice to have. One of the many, and in my opinion the most jarring examples of the writers abruptly moving the story forward with little to no set up, was the part where the police decide to raid city hall. For how important this part of the story was, like so many other times in the series, the writers just jump right into this arc with zero scenes leading up to it. The last episode was also unnecessary and felt forced and sloppy compared to therest of the series. It felt completely out of character and forced for Migi to choose to go dormant in the final episode. It is completely unbelievable that the character who has preached on self preservation the entire series would essentially give up on living in the end. And yes, the explanation the writers give is complete bullshit.

Despite some of its short comings, Parasyte was gripping from beginning to end and had some very deep and profound meaning behind the Parasytes themselves. For being a series that I originally had no intention of watching, I really enjoyed this one a lot.
