Review of Big Order (TV)
Ooooh, what a glorious piece of trash this was. I feel sorry for everyone that hoped to get some decent experience out of Big Order, at least at the level of Mirai Nikki. Trashy as that series might've been, it was at least decently constructed and effective at what it was going for. Big Order is a mess all the way through, from its unconvincing post-apocalyptic world and broken supernatural element to the barely-coherent main plotline and messed-up fanservice. For ironic watch tough, it's pretty solid. The stupid edginess of the main character and his domination powers (which are, TBH, pretty shitty at what they do),wasting long minutes of already incredibly rushed series for obnoxious nude scenes and creepy sexual tension (which goes nowhere), idiotic dialogue, crappy CGI effects accompanying most orders (the show's brand of superpowers)... It's all more than enough to get a good laugh out of each episode. There's also A LOT of happening most of the time, meaning you're unlikely to get bored before the anime gives you another serving of confusing absurdity, unreasonable tone shifts or gratuitous violence. Outside of somewhat decent production quality, it's literally not far off some ultimate anime trash such as Hand Shakers – and just like that series, I very much love to hate it.
For masochists such as myself – highly recommended. For anyone else – avoid at all cost.
