Review of Tsukigakirei
“If you've slept soundly at night the morning is exhilarating, I suppose.”- Dazai LINE: the anime. Here it is. Starting off with the plot, it's boring sometimes but masterfully develops as it goes along. After the first four or so episodes, it starts to kick off and get good. Two love triangles are present at one time, which was interesting to see play out. The drama is overdone at times but everything still culminates nicely. Next, let's talk about the drama, which is executed soundly. It isn't in your face, but tension builds up through subtle gestures until it overflows. The characters are average I wouldsay, The male MC is well-written, and the female MC is decent but not as well. The side characters are decent but forgettable one could say, apart from Chinnatsu, who I personally enjoyed as she differs from the other characters. The characters are childish at times but it is a late middle-school romance so that is to be expected. Themes of family and its importance are emphasized throughout the series and it was done quite realistic and well. The animation is where it gets a little wonky, the CGI is kinda messed up and it feels like a slideshow sometimes. The art looks a lot like your name, but on a budget. Failure is something that is also a theme, not everything is a fairytale and there is a level of realism, one specific time I expected a positive result but it actually turned out different, which is a positive because most romances are too predictable, and this one isn't as predictable, contributing to it's suspense, speaking of which the suspense is a strength of the drama. The soundtrack is brilliant, I think the opening and ending are done great by nao toyama, and in important scenes in the later part of episodes, around the 16-minute mark onwards, there are songs that play that are sung really well. The music is always appropriate and it is very beautiful. Pacing is good for me, the confession comes early and the plot doesn't really stall, it is a slower plot but something is always building up and as I said before, there is plenty of drama. The last 3-4 episodes were really beautiful in my eyes and contributed heavily to the ranking. Given this ending, I would highly recommend as an suspenseful drama while also being an adolescent romance that develops beautifully with an enthralling plot. 9/10 thanks for reading, -nashy
