Review of Strike the Blood
This is a thoroughly average anime that doesn't really stand out at any off its aspects. We have a story about formerly normal guy that recently got super powers. There's shounen, some comedy, and attempts at ecchi, romance and fanservice. Story: Fairyl weak, but does its job. The story pretty much follows every trope of the genres involved, and occasionally tries to play with ecchi, fanservice, and jokes that revolve around getting protagonist into "ecchi" situation, and then getting him called a pervert Those situations are somewhat awkwardly handled on some occasiona. Mostly the story maintains average quality, with exception of the few last episodes that werequite awful. Lots of highly predictable and stereotypical interactions and story elements.
Art:
Standard anime art for those days. Triangular faces, details only when necessary. I've seen worse, though, so it is a fairly well done "standard modern anime art", and not an attempt to cut costs at every corner.
Sound:
Some interesting tunes in background, but nothing really stands out.
Characters:
Highly cliched and stereotypical interactions between characters. Characters are quite close to their stereotypes, don't deviate from them too much, which results in somewhat wooden interactions. Protagonist is clueless around women, thankfully he isn't spineless.
Enjoeyemen:
Aside from bad episodes at the end, the show doesn't give a reason to hate it. At the same it is not exceptional by any means, and may occasionally produce a chuckle or two. Meaning I wasn't bored to death it, but I could probably watch something better instead.
Overall:
May be worth a watch if you're into shounen anime or want to watch couple of fights. The protagonist, thankfully, doesn't turn angst and preaching to eleven, and only occasionally starts shouting obvious, which makes it tolerable. If you're looking for ecchi or harem comedy, there are better animes out there (To Love Ru, Ben-Tou, etc). This anime handles ecchi in awkward manner, plus there's not much of it, and romantic/"harem-comedy" kind of interactions are incredibly stereotypical and sometimes feel forced.
So, basically, it is a relatively light (despite having blood in it) anime to watch, if you have some time to kill. I found few ending episodes to be cringe worthy, but I suspect that at this point studio might've run out of light novel material.
