Review of Gushing over Magical Girls

This is my first review for MyAnimeList, so I'll keep it brief. This anime is different from the usual. Based on the material, it would typically be a 5-minute anime, but the comedic and action tones make it stand out. The BDSM elements are quite interesting, and by the end of the season, you’re left wanting to see what happens next since part of the plot is resolved in episode 12. I’d also say that a male version of this anime would be interesting—I bet fujoshis and fudanshis would really go for the material and story. Utena is the star of the show, along withthe Three Magics. You can tell that the author of the original material is a big BDSM enthusiast. The comedic elements are excellent; they made me rewatch this anime three times because it never loses its charm. The spicier scenes are also well done, though I'm not a fan of the 'fruit' shown, but it’s both funny and hot. I recommend this to anyone looking for a subversive take on magical girls, not to mention that the anime references several famous magical girl shows.
