Review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc

Where do I even start with this one? Well, I just finished this show and I couldn't be more confused as to what I watched. Don't get me wrong, Tengen is cool, the animation is god-tier, but what I struggle to find is anything else. Without going into too much detail, this show is not meant to be taken seriously. It is a shounen through and through. Nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary, just a show about swordsmen vs demons. When they attempt to make it deep, they fall short and lose the potential for characters like Rengoku and Tengen by only giving thema few moments. The sad thing is, I like them more than the main cast. It's just hard to like them in my opinion at the moment when they are designated to their specific tropes. So why is my score a 6 if all I did was bash it? Well, I don't think I have been more hype to watch a weekly for the sole purpose of enjoying some high-quality fights. The main interest comes with the crazy animation and fights that this season delivers. Without that aspect, however, the show falls flat and I hope that there will be some improvement in the future. If you enjoy serious thought-provoking shows, stay far away from this as you will only be disappointed. But if you want a pure hype show about fighting and visuals this is the one.
