Review of Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro
There is spoilers for season 1 of Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san near the end of the story section Art I give a 8/10 the way the artist drew the characters sometimes was something straight out of a fairy tale some points were astounding in the visual detail there is one complaint I have one of the characters has bright orange hair while I feel like in the anime world people with the personality she has should have red hair and not orange. Another thing I have to nit pick on is why they put Nagatoro with cats when they do transitions they have her with a bunch ofcats meowing it seems like something just random that they wanted to appeal to others fetishes.
Sound I give an 8/10 the music in the intro is an absolute listen. Some one like me who usually skips the intros to most anime found it really refreshing to listen to the intro every now and again. Throughout the anime they use very common anime sounds such as when a character is running away and Don't toy with me Nagatoro is no different in that fact. Now I know asking for entirely different sounds is like asking Lucasfilm's to not use light sabers in the next star wars spinoff but I just had to put that out there. Other then that the outro was little more then mediocre the fist couple of beats in it sound really good but once the lyrics come in it becomes an entirely different song with a different style of sound and I don't really like that.
Character I gave an 8/10 I feel like you can tell that the characters are growing on each other at the beginning this one girl doesn't go to the art club as much as the other girls but then once senpai helps her by pretending to be her boyfriend she ends up visiting him too. One of the characters I feel they changed the most from the Manga is Yoshi. In the manga she only repeats what this other girl is saying only breaking character a couple times but in the anime they make her her own character she says her own things and still copies that one girl from time to time. As for the voice actors they did a really good job expressing the characters personality from the tsundere to the laid back girl.
Story I gave a 7/10 this is the lowest score I have given on this anime because of the fact that there isn't really a story it is just one off bits till the end where the episodes have canonical meaning. Something I really hated about the manga is how after 86 chapters senpai finally gets the courage to ask out Nagatoro in this ROMANTIC comedy anime. The manga goes slower than one piece. This next sentence is going to have a spoiler at the end of the last episode Nagatoro kisses senpai on the cheek nothing even close to this happens in the manga. In the manga the chapters are different parts of an episode each episode of don't toy with me Nagatoro has about 3 of these chapters the anime because there was no story connection to them just shuffled around the chapters the beginning of episode 2 with the hula hoop scene doesn't happen till chapter 23 in the manga.
Overall Don't toy with me Nagatoro is a really good anime that got me into reading its source material. Out of the 129 different animes I have watched this is probably my favorite because it genuinely made me laugh at times.
