Review of The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?
The name should be "What if moist white bread was an isekai." There was nothing exiting or overly interesting, but at least nothing that was actually bad, that's why the rating isn't low, but average. Minor spoilers There isn't really a story (which isn't always bad), but it's just an anime following a 25y old salary man who got transported into a 5y old boy in a fantasy world and he has a high affinity for magic, which is rare in that world. The good thing is, he is not extremely OP or "The chosen one" and it's not a harem anime. This anime takes a slightlymore realistic approach. He just has higher Mana than other mages and learns fast, but still has to work to improve. This advantage is however enough for him to rise in status quickly.
The plot is less on the action side. Where there is action, the makers seem to have tried their best to minimize the production cost. The anime seems to concentrate more on the struggles of becoming a young and famous noble, while being only an 8th son of only a poor noble. Many plot points are not developed or kept extremely short. This skips some boring, but also some interesting character development.
Who likes isekai or just magical fantasy world anime (like me) and needs something simple to watch on 1.25 times speed will find this anime not bad. If you look for graphic action or complex politics, you will be bored.
