Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Urdr Hunt Special Edition: Path of the Little Challenger · review
The movie plays as a glorified recap episode for a tv show we should've gotten instead, and its quite unfortunate that the majority of the story as well as character progression and building is removed due the majority of the animation is from a now defunct game. Because of this its really hard to care whats going on and happening to the characters or thier motivations for taking part in the Urdr hunt, leaving you with just the few moments characters and plot points from IBO show up The story itself and characters are quite intresting and would have made for a fun series leading youon a treasure hunt through the IBO universe. the animation was well done and their were some exciting action scenes, especially when the first mobile armor shows up. i wish we got more of what would be the series main antagonists, which thankfully isn't another char clone. some of the character reveals are interesting and i would have liked if they done more with it and would have made for a good several episode arc. the mobile suit designs are unique enough and stand out, with the main Gundam being well designed, though the movie skips how and why its upgraded along the way.
overall its hard to recommend this movie unless you need more IBO content or want something gundam to put on. with its main sin being it should've been a fully fleshed out OVA or tv series instead of a condensed movie, leaving the end product to have extremely rushed pacing, with little to none character building, some decent fight scenes, and a taste of what would have been a decent Gundam show
