No Longer Allowed in Another World · review
Isekai genre is often criticized for being too much of a power-fantasy, making any obstacle the hero face on their path barely relevant, and the villains' bragging only manage to make readers roll their eyes and skimp the pages; thus, it only makes sense to assume that solving this issue is key to making a good Isekai that can actually standout the test of time as something above decent. This manga destroy that thought by doing none of that and still somehow becoming one of the best manga I've ever read. How, you may ask? The keyword is the execution. The "hero"'s suicidal tendency along with hisnovelist background create a very entertaining and unique take on the situation we've previously seen over and over again. He's not some character who gets all giddy and excited because he's an omnipotent being reborn in a new world, nor is he someone lamenting his fate about how he's being backstabbed by everyone he knew because they think he's useless. He's just a simple man with simple desires, to find an interesting story and die.
The side characters are each pretty solid and their backstory is enjoyable, though sadly most of them don't seem to offer anything as refreshing as the protagonist (at least for the moment). Plot's also pretty neat. I won't spoil any it, I'll just say that I like their themes, though some part of me do wish they're a little more connected and explored more thoroughly since I feel like these themes have a lot of potential that are still unexplored, even if I know that it probably won't fit this story.
TLDR: Refreshing protagonist that react and act in a very unique way to the isekai world we have somewhat seen before. Good stuffs, recommended.
