This review may discuss plot details.

After season 3 of the anime in 2018, it took 7 more years, in 2025, to finally get a follow up. That was a movie called Cute Earth Defense Club Eternal Love. There’s two things that immediately stands out about this movie to me. First, it goes back to the cast of the first two seasons and the OVA. If you saw my review of season 3 then you know that, while I didn’t hate the new cast, I preferred the older cast, I thought they were funnier and cuter. The second thing is that there’s actually an organic, inuniverse explanation for the time span. The first two seasons and the OVA all took place in 2015, the year that season 1 came out. And this series takes place in 2025. The magical wombat comes back to Earth after a decade but he thinks it’s still 2025. He’s surprised to learn that all five of the magical boys that he previously worked with had graduated from high school and weren’t fighting evil anymore. So the first little bit of this movie is spend getting all five of them back together again and on board with continuing their previous quest. And after that the rest of the movie is everything that the first two seasons, and season 3 to an extent, was. It’s funny, fun, adorable, and entertaining. Nothing more and nothing less. The fights have better animation than the series has seen before, but there’s not anything else to say beyond that.
