— Ok, so I wouldn’t normally leave a review this early, since I prefer allowing things to marinate a bit before forming opinions worth sharing when it comes to reviews. BUT … It was made abundantly clear to me within moments of viewing that the once established spirit and mood of tensura that existed in previous seasons is actively being reprised here, and this is something we needed to see in respite of last seasons complaints. The massive roster of producers beneath this have certainly fixed some bugs this season and polished the show’s already charming design. The enhancement is quite notable. What I know it’s thestudio wants to do the series a respectable service by pulling out all the stops going forward.
Observations -
Pacing is good so far... kinda redeems itself after the jacked up pacing of last season, that’s nice. The storytelling is brisk yet balanced and has been pretty enjoyable to watch.
The animation is sunlit and executed thoughtfully. At its core there is even some nostalgia naturally present at this point.
But it is intentionally amplified.
I think it’s pretty cool when animators are able to emit that sort of tone somehow. Almost felt like characters were greeting the viewers the moment they appeared on screen :3
I am very impressed and pleased to see those familiar faces shining so bright with the added enhancements.
Music -
Woww that opening sequence [with Eir Aoi] was dope asf plain and simple tho. The sublime and energized animation felt actually peak and I am obsessed with it - truly a mood boost OP! It’s yaaaaay yet another opening gem I’m forced to freak out over this season :P bleeeee [there’s already so many haha] but this is definitely a favorite of mine right now.
Cours -
We were promised five cours of this series folks. FIVE. That type of time investment is proof tensura is here to stay and is believed in by its own creators. That promised episode count also allows the studio to cover the complex arcs ahead and several following arcs without rushing the pacing.
And seeing how they amped up the animation so much, actually fixed the pacing, and considering the vibe of the season thus far…. Yeah, I don’t think there’s gonna be any glaringly unforgivable flaws present. Which is very exciting.
Thoughts -
What I love most about tensura is that it truly delivers on the premise that isekai are made to whisp you away and help you forget your problems when you watch them. And it’s consistently actually doing so. At least from my experience!
Ps: I suppose the main intention of this review was to send good vibes, meta handclaps, and props to the production staff in some way to be fully honest lol. Kind of silly considering they’ll never read nor see it - but they certainly deserve respect and recognition for their dedication to the series in my opinion.
