Spoiler warning

This review may discuss plot details.

This without a doubt, my favourite anime of all time, so of course I'm gonna recommend it. And I grew up on Yu-Gi-Oh so there is clearly some bias. However I never watched 5Ds as a kid, so the childhood nostalgia isn't my reason for loving this. This is simply where the series peaks. They went unapologetically all out on their Akira, Terminator, class-issues doomsday trail, and they freaking nail it. I am truly in love with the silent but empathetic Yusei, who is to shy to speak, however confident when he let's his dueling talk. Jack's transition from King to warrior for the future. Aki's journey froma hated outcast monster to a blooming flower who learns to love herself and those around her (writing this makes me sentimental).
All the other characters are awesome as well, but a man has to limit himself. But when it all blends together in a class-split dystopian future that evolves into a battle against fate and culminates in the fight for a future filled with belief, it's just a loveable ride.

It is easy to reduce this to card games on motorbikes, but with that strategy, you could ruin most shows.
