Review of Akira

I started watching Akira after reading lot's of reviews for it, mostly being mixed. As I watched it I found Akira getting more and more confusing. Story & Characters: The story involves a lot of political intrigue, violence and supernatural powers that were never really explained (at least not in a realistic fashion). I can see where both sides come from in the debate of wether Akira is a good show or not. To me personally it made little sense and I didn't understand quite how the characters ended up as they did. Most of the characters never got any development, except for Kaneda and Tetsuo,and even their development was kinda confusing.
Art & Sound: The art shows a ugly and gritty "Neo Tokyo" after WWIII, ruled by violence. The character mostly all have the same face and look really ugly to boot (though I've seen worse). The Sound was strange and the volume was inconsistent.
Overall: I couldn't really enjoy Akira, and from what I watched in the movie I don't think I'll be reading the mange either, even if it is supposed to be better.
