Review of Sword Art Online
This review will mostly be about the 1st arch that was actually halfway decent not the second fairy BS arc that mostly consisted of wincest, tragic writing, and a terrible ecchi weird villain who has less substance than flat Stanley. So, highly recommend only watching first arch. Isekai usually have little plot and usually it's you was gaming now your in the game or damn we found this cool wormhole to another world random guy who happens to be an otaku we're sending you in. This show was somewhat different not particularly outstanding but making the whole you can't take off the VR headset or youdie was interesting. The only problem is this trope gets repeated with a slightly different twist every new installment ,but at this point it's a SAO thing.
What I like about this show is mostly Kirito and the plot occasionally ,but mostly Kirito. I like him because he is simply very gamer and when you find your self actually enjoying his development as a character. He actually changes over the course of the show he may go from cool gamer to edgy gamer ,but that keep the show somewhat interesting. Especially when he goes through the solo phase because friendship is hollow and it brought him sorrow. Which is very accurate because Kirito is in fact a teen and he's to have the phase ,when you're like life is stupid and the NHK is out to get me so I'm moving to Antarctica ,with my body pillow to escape the facade of society.
Sadly Kirito met basic starter pack waifu Asuna and decided to stop being cool. I don't particularly hate Asuna she just has no redeeming qualities. Her looks meh, defining personality trait is she likes kirito, and she stole edgy Kirito from the viewers. So overall d tier waifu.
None of the other characters are particularly important and most of the female cast likes Kirito cause he so dreamy or something. Like what about my boy Klein he's somewhat of a chad but gets no woman just because Kirito's sword might be slightly longer is an absolute travesty.
The plot though is definitely OK. I guess like Kayaba is like Kobe to the second arch villain's Kwame Brown ,but compared to most villains he is slightly above average. He is insane while also being reasonable kinda ,but what sets him apart is his interaction within the game world and his epic plot twist at the end.
This show was like the 4th anime I ever watched so at first I thought it was god tier ,but now I feel it's somewhat like a schooldays type of show where you got to watch just so you can understand the anime community slightly better.
