Review of Fairy Tail

This is my first review, but I'll try to be as objective as possible even if I'm a fan of the series. STORY : 8/10 One of the strong points of the story is the shortness of the arcs. Almost every arc has around 20 episodes which is very nice, we see the essential and there is no annoying and long flashbacks or endless fights. A lot of people are complaining about the "nakama power" but I think it's the essence of fairy tail, you like it or not. Personally I love it, but in the last arc (anime is now airing), I wanted more depth infinal fights. I've finished the manga and honestly the story is great. This part of the anime shows not much elements of the main story (dragons vanishing, zeref, acnologia, etc) but all the arcs are great (exept daphne arc) and I really enjoyed them. One thing I love too in FT is the fillers, they are almost all very good, between two arcs of the main story, fillers bring relaxation and some of them are really funny. Then, I know the structure of the arcs are the same, Natsu and his friends are going to beat average opponents before kicking the ass of the final boss. I don't mind of that, the story isn't repetitive in my own opinion, every arc is unique with unique characters. One last thing, talk about fights. I rarely see astounding fights, generally less than the half of fights in a single arc are really cool but with this, you can really enjoy a cool fight when it begins like Azuma against Erza.

ART : 7/10

I like the art which is better than the manga (go check the first apparition of Erza in the manga O_O). The animation is not excellent (a lot of fixed shots) but it's not actually a problem, you can follow fights easely and consequently enjoy them. And I want to say Fairy Tail is also a comedy anime so the animation in this case does not matter. Art evolve during the anime in a good way but I like both after and before. I can also say that there is no ugly 3D. I think its a really good point to raise.

SOUND : 10/10

The OST in this anime are just wonderful, its pleasure in the form of waves. I can't say a lot more than this but I'm serious when I say the musics are one of the best you could hear. I take an exemple, Shukumei by Yasuharu Takanashi which is my favorite, you really should hear it, its one of the most beautiful OST I've heard.

CHARACTERS : 8/10

I won't enter in the details because it would be too long but let's start.
Lucy: Main character with a dream body like almost every girl, and she use constellation magic. Some of people say she's useless and she's here only for fan service but I'm don't agree, in any case before the tartaros arc. She don't have much development like a lot of characters but I like how she is.
Natsu: The main issue of this character is zero development, he can't win fights by himself, the only fight he is alone is against Zeref but it is a the very end. I want to point that none of characters really have a huge training but his power grow slowly so its fine. Sadly, every final boss he beats, he needs a boost like the mushroom for Mario. Sometimes its fire, sometimes its another guy's magic. However he's still a good character and his fights are enjoyable.
Happy: The character who brings most of the fun comedy just by talking ^_^
Almost all the characters are great even if they are in the second plan. I repeat some of them need a better development but its due to the shortness of arcs and the fact that fairy tail never really ends.

ENJOYMENT : 9/10

Personally I'm a fan of most of the series because Fairy Tail has a lot of weak points but they are filled with a force you'll never see somewhere else, it gives me the desire to join their world.

OVERALL : 8/10

Great story (in this part), great characters, beautiful OST, I'm happy I've grown with this.
If you're in search of anime with a big depth in the story, I don't recommend it, but if you love classic shounens you must give a chance to Fairy Tail. Actually there is a sequel but this is not as good as the original series. Thank you for reading have a great day !
