Review of Black Lagoon
Before i begin my review, i have one question. Why is it that everybody in anime has to smoke? I get the tone they're trying to set but ffs you would think that a character would come in and say: "Sorry i don't smoke." or something xD. Anyway I don't want that question to make you believe I didn't love this series. Story(8) The story isn't all that great, but the overall tone of it is what made it so good. The gritty and realistic feel is somewhat refreshing. The story follows Rokuro Okajima or later known as "Rock", who was once a business man in Japanuntil his boss left him to die when he was kidnapped. That's when he befriended Dutch (captain), Revy (badass female), and Benny (hacker/computer mech.). They go on adventures together and work together as mercenaries.
Art/Sound(8)
The Art for its time is actually good, and the sound is really good too. Great for the intense moments in this anime.
characters(9)
"Rock" is our main protagonist, but will sometimes come off as a bit whiny. However i overlook this because he has epic moments where he'll think with his brain and come up with some kind of strategy to get him and his friends out of sticky situations. Down the road you learn he's basically your average white collar worker who does what he wants to do when given the chance.
"Revy" or Rebecca is the main female protagonist, and my favorite character. She's harsh, and brash but you know her intentions for her actions. She's the main gunfighter, and is known as "Two Hands" for her abilities with dual wield pistols. This makes her the ultimate badass simply cause she gives 0 fucks whatsoever.
The rest of the cast is thrown to the side later in the season. Mainly for relationship progression between these 2. You can tell Revy starts to actually care for our MC, so much that she was willing to turn around and save him when he was captured.
Enjoyment(10)
This anime is just so enjoyable, the characters are great and the mc can be relatable. Although if i were kidnapped by pirate mercenaries, I have no idea how i'd react xD.
Overall(9)
This is a definite watch, and I would say you are missing out if you haven't watched it yet. But this anime is dark and has some very real themes. So take this show with a grain of salt when deciding to watch it.
