Review of Bakemonogatari
This is a review of the entire series, and I'll keep this brief, as I don't want to ramble on too much. The Monogatari Series might be my favorite anime series of all time, there is nothing else out there like it. It's abrasive and degenerate, uncomfortable and trippy, heartfelt and honest, raw and emotionally resonate. The pacing and structure is an Avant-garde masterwork. The characters are all well-rounded and fleshed out in interesting ways. Nisio Isin is a fucking genius, and Shaft did an incredible job adapting a light novel series that in many ways is unadaptable on the surface. Every time I watchthe series, I'm constantly and consistently impressed that the series works as well as it does. I'm not a big fan of harems, and yet it works, I've seen a ton of Slice of Life and Mystery/Supernatural anime, and yet this series stands head and shoulders above them. The Monogatari Series is a singular work of art, and is a must watch for any fan of the art form.
