Review of Waiting in the Summer

I'm an 18 year old man but I will admit to shedding some tears from this anime. Ano Natsu de Matteru will take you through a very standard anime style story while adding an incredible amount of Depth. It blew me away and has become one of my favourite animes. Story: The story is amazing. It begins and ends on the most hyped moments for each episode and the inbetween builds up well for the climax of the episode as well. Its like being hit with three big wows for every episode. Something you don't get alot of with this type of anime. The story actually goessomewhere in terms of romance as well. The whole concept of the film making is not very tangible besides the fact that its what gets everyone together, but later on in the series it becomes more clear what filming and the movie symbolises. 10/10 for story, it brought something new to the slice of life romance anime and it moved quite fluidly.

Art: Art was outstanding. I love the kind of artwork that this anime brings. I can only maybe compare it to Chuunibiyou another one of my all time favs. Its not an old style of anime art which is nice and the drawings are crisp and modern. Overall enjoyable.

Sound: The sound is one of the main feels catchers. The music will have you wanting to join in on the excitement or feel the pain of the characters as well. It was climatic and cinematic as well as being soft on the ears too.

Character: Probably my own gripe with the show is that you never really end up seeing what happens to Tetsuro and Mio or even Kanna in fact. I wish Kanna would have made peace with her rejection from Kaito but thats just me. Overall the character ark was good but the story itself really carried the anime not the character development. Kaito was a pretty bland guy but I do like how he was somewhat different the typical anime protaganists in SOME ways. The characters are well done just not the best but again the story really carried this anime. Voice acting Japanese dub was excellent though i have to say.

ITS A GREAT ANIME WHICH WILL MAKE YOU CATCH THE FEELS. Its so short that you will not sleep the night you finish it. Like all great animes you will feel a hole in your heart and thats just how it goes. But if you have that hole right now then please take a look at this anime and prepare for one epic journey :) cheers.
