Well I just finished School Days and I gotta tell you this is a very difficult anime to rate. The story follows Makoto who likes a girl in his school named Katsura. He meets Sekai who tries to get the two together not knowing that she also has an interest in him. Seems like it's gonna be a pretty standard school anime right? Yeah well that's what they want you to think at first as the plunge the show deeper and deeper into darkness. This is by no means a typical school anime. It seems very tame at first, but then you see the real side of Makoto and things start to get much more explicit (don't worry they don't actually show much if you know what I mean). Makoto seems like a likable character at first, but don't be fooled. You'll soon hate him. Maybe you'll even want him dead in fact. The ending of School Days is simple brutal. The way it's done is incredibly over the top (in a good way) and will probably leave your jaw on the floor. Now the reason this is a difficult anime to rate is because honestly it isn't all that amazing. The story is kinda weak and the art and animation are good, but nothing special. The reason I give School Days a 7 out of 10 though is a combination of the brilliant ending and how Makoto slowly becomes, bluntly put, the biggest douche in anime history, or at least what I've seen. He truly becomes the character you love to hate and it's wonderfully done. The rest of the characters like Katsura and Sekai are a little weak at first, but do develop as the story progresses and really shine in the ending. Basically I feel that this is an easily misunderstood anime from other reviews I've seen on youtube or other sites because the middle of the story pretty much becomes a sex fest and reviewers can't seem to look past that and understand that it was done like that for a reason. Seriously give School Days a shot and keep a very open mind. And trust me watch the whole thing even if you're a little bored sine it's only 12 episodes and the ending really does pay off big time.
