Review of [Oshi No Ko]
Oshi no Ko has very good writing and an overall interesting narrative; the dark topics about the entertainment industry are handled pretty well too. However there are some writing choices that irk me and keep me from giving this show a 10/10. One of them is the love triangle. This might be a personal "ick" of mine, however I really don't see how the love triangle is relevant to the story. And I don't mean to say that romance can't be a part of the show; but it feels like the romance is 90% of the show. It becomes a problem when the characters ofsaid triangle outshines other main characters, like Ruby, who should be an integral part of the story, but we barely see her on screen.
Which leads me to my other complait: What exactly is the main premise of this show? Is it about revenge? Is it about grieving? Is it about romance? Is it about the entretainment industry? It can be all of those combined, but ultimately the base of everthing should be "Aqua's plot of revenge", or at least that's the impression the 1st episode gave. Hopefully the second season will be more focused on that.
