Review of Vinland Saga Season 2

I will be brief. Who is it for and who it isn't for. Some say this season was too slow and boring. If you're big fan of fights, action and stuff like that then yeah this season has less action compared to first season, sure there are some bloodshed here and there but it doesn't even come close to brutality of 1st season. However this season shines through in story telling, character development, philosophy, emotional moments and stuff like that. So if you're more into watching personal transformation of characters, characters making tough choices, what's moral and what's not, etc then this season is definitelyfor you. Besides, it's not only main characters that go through transformation but couple other side characters too.

If you were fan of Thorfinn and/or Canute from Season 1 then you must watch this season no matter how much you like fights, as these 2 characters have very interesting themes and both of them go through transformation. Their goals similar yet transformation taking almost opposite turn, it's interesting to see how they diverge and yet still share similar goals and what conclusions do they come in the end. (This is as much as I can say without dropping any spoilers)

If you're into political intrigues then this season is also good for that, Canute will keep you interested through out season. He's one of those characters, like Askeladd, who you may agree with but also hate but see his point but still don't want to support him... morally grey basically and who doesn't like such characters, especially in media where politics are part of.

Sure we may miss the chaddest of all, Askeladd, but Canute and Thorfinn still carry this season alongside with some side characters.
