Review of Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow

SL is one of those guilty pleasure anime where you just shut down your brain and enjoy the action and animation, even though there’s nothing especially groundbreaking about the animation when we’ve seen far better like JJK, OPM season 1, DS, Fate, AOT, One piece, and Freiren which has an at least enjoyable to absolute peak story with very interesting side characters regardless of the action Also calling the story mid is an understatement because there is no story other than * MC watch NPC side characters get handed theirs asses by strong enemy * MC steps in when it’s almost too late to aura farm * MCbeats strong enemy in the most uninspiring way while his cheerleading side characters hype him up
* MC gets stronger and repeats sequence

And don’t get me started with the npc side characters whose only job is to watch jin woo do cool shit while rizzing him up. SL has the most terribly written side characters I’ve ever seen in anime

I’ll be honest by saying I did enjoy SL and looked forward to watching each new episode as they dropped, but that doesn’t mean it’s anywhere near peak or a 9 to 10 rated anime, the lack of a sound story and compelling characters disqualifies it from those ranks

I think it’s a solid 8 based on pure enjoyment and lower when you critically think about it
