Witches Can't Be Collared · review
tl;dr - You can skip this one, there's nothing particularly unique about it. This book had me interested in the synopsis, but it didn't hold up. Maybe my expectations were too high? It mentioned detective work, so I was expecting to think a bit while reading, but it just played out as a standard fantasy adventure with a detective coat of paint on it and a grand reveal about 75% of the way through. Looking at the MAL page, I notice a distinct lack of "detective" tag, so maybe that's on me. The girls are likable, but not enough to carry the story. Think of it asa harem except the girls aren't exactly throwing themselves at our MC, and the MC is also not particularly thrilled to work with them. The formula works, it got me smiling on multiple occasions, and it's what got me to at least finish the book. The artwork is very good, but of course this is only a supplement.
By the end of the book (Volume 1), I was glad that it was over. Not exactly the feeling I'm looking for when I pick something out. I dislike having to talk poorly about something that someone created, because I imagine authors put their soul into their writing. But seeing as there are 0 reviews at the time of writing, I had to put something out there.
