Review of The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
This anime is a pretty underrated gem and I definitely regret not watching sooner. I disregarded it as looking too goofy and just ignored it in my watch-list until this year. Yet it has quickly shot up to one of my favorite anime within the past year or two. Story: 9/10 Saiki Kusuo is a 4-5 minute per episode anime about a psychic that is inconvenienced by his powers and just wants to be an average person living an average life. If you're like me and dislike hitting the "next episode" button a lot due to the 4-5 minute episode schedule, then don't worry! There'sother options out there that let you watch it on a normal 24 minute anime runtime. There isn't really a main plotline other than a few rare mini-arcs in the show but it is endlessly entertaining. Saiki and his interactions with his school, friends, and family end up making some really lovable and hilarious moments that can get some laughs out of me. The story of each episode can be really hard to follow sometimes as Saiki and the humor is really fast-paced, but if you're a fast reader I don't think you'll have many problems.
Art: 7/10 I'd normally give it a 6/10 as I feel it's pretty simplistic but I think Saiki being in the comedy genre gives the art an extra point for me. It's just too fitting for its show and characters.
Sound: 7/10 I'm not a big fan of the opening and endings of Saiki, but the OST and themes for each character are pretty great and entertaining. Especially Kaido's theme, the Judgement Knights of Thunder song makes me feel like I can survive a 50 foot story drop.
Characters: 9/10 Each character has a lovable or unique niche that makes their interactions with each other really entertaining. It's hard for me to find a favorite because they're all really great in their own right.
Overall: 9/10 I don't think I've had an anime make me laugh this hard since Nichijou. I highly recommend this show if you're looking for good comedy anime as those can be hard to come by.
