The Rising of the Shield Hero

I was genuinely surprised by how much I liked this. Sure, it wasn't the greatest thing in the world and it plays into a lot of tropes of the isekai genre, nobody seems to be much bothered by the literal slavery in this world and the fact that the obvious female love interest willingly gets enslaved to the male lead a second time is hella problematic, plus the fact that he essentially forced her to fight for him to begin with was pretty despicable. Add in the fact that he seemingly has a good relationship with a literal slave trader and he definitely wasn't thebest of people. The big use of a false accusation of rape to drive his character motivations was also very frustrating - I do think it's harmful to have this stereotype perpetuated by media.
Still, I can't lie and say this wasn't entertaining. The constant lies everyone told about the Shield Hero and the way he was treated was very frustrating, but things turn around somewhat by the end of the first season and it could be mildly funny seeing how absolutely useless the other heroes were.
