Tonpei to Sarukichi is a trainwreck of the most beautiful kind. Sure, it's old and janky, characters float in and out of the story at random, the show's plot points happen nigh on randomly, and it's overall pretty incomprehensible, but it has a sort of archaic charm to it reminiscent of the old Walt Disney cartoons. You feel like the creators were really trying their hardest to make a fun story with a good message for the kiddies. They failed...dismally...but gosh darn it, they tried! It has cute characters, decent animation for its time period, and some semblance of a plot. Even if it isoverall pretty terrible, it's worth 8 minutes of your time, if not just for a good laugh.
