Baki the Grappler · review
Arguably the best season of OG Baki. It masterfully depicts the protagonist's psychological trauma inflicted by his mother, which deliberately compelled him to rebel against his 'tyrant' of a father, right up to their final 'reconciliation' bout. It also features an intriguing combat system that would eventually devolve into something akin to thinly veiled superpowers. Overall, this season still maintains a certain threshold of logic, allowing the series to be perceived as a serious narrative, grounded in the actual realities of martial arts. This aspect is particularly striking when contrasted with the later installments of the story, where absurdity completely overtakes rationality.
