Review of The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?

SPOILERS At the beginning of this anime, I was pretty hopeful. It seemed like it could be a good underdog story, as the MC was a weak little kid that has no knowledge about his new world, who also has almost no chance of inheriting anything from his poor noble family. I was wrong. By episode five, the MC was one of the strongest people in his country, he had 3 wives (which is really fucking creepy), he was a very high ranking noble, and he gets filthy rich. The mc also suffers from the problem that most isekai protagonists suffer from: he has no personalityother than being nice and being OP. The fights in this show are also horrible. They either don't show them, or they look like nightmare fuel (looking at you skele dragon).
This anime could have been great. if I were to recreate this season, it would mainly be about Wendelin and his master's training and adventures together. It would have been cool to see how Wendelin's bond formed with his master, only to lose it when he eventually has to kill him at the end of the season. by making the first ark the entire season (or at least six episodes), they could also show more of the dynamics of Wendelin's family. An ideal first season of this show, in my opinion, would be all of the events of the first two arks, (aka the training ark and school ark) but just more spread out.
This anime could have been great. If they just slow down the pace, and gave the mc a unique personality, then it could have been a decent anime. Sadly, in my opinion, this show just falls under the title of "isekai trash"
