Review of Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc

Simply one hell of a season! Ever since CloverWorks took over this project from A-1 pictures, each passing season has been better than the last! And this season is proof of it. Now bound for deep Germany, on a Queen's request to investigate the mysterious deaths in a remote village, comes a series of twists and turns that will leave you speechless. An emerald witch, a curse and werewolves? Damn, you’ve got me intrigued. And let's not forget, there are a couple of baddies in that remote village where the emerald witch lives. The animation this season literally screams Cloverworks! I'm not joking when I say they arebecoming a powerhouse when it comes to animations. They way the OP and ED where made was fantastic, together with the music was just *Chef's kiss*. If you've seen their other projects like "Wind breaker" and "Bochii the Rock", you can tell the passion they put into their work.

One thing that stood out to me was the green color palette. It made the whole Emerald witch story all the more appealing, plus green is my favorite color, so I’m a little bit biased there :-)

The batch of new characters has been refreshing and something that I really liked is that we’re now diving more and more into the side characters' backstories with each season. For example, we got to learn about Finn’s past and it honestly made me tear up a little. I never expected such a harsh and dark backstory from such a lively character.

Overall, it has been a fantastic season and I cannot wait for another one! Hopefully we don't have to wait another 5 years for a sequel. Truly one hell of an adaptation!!
