I am an author. A writer. I can't say much except: "brilliant, mature, well-written, well-structured, a true gem by true artists." Basically everything the mainstream anime production doesn't have nowadays. This is a show from which authors can learn—and they should—what makes a story great, and how to put it into the paper—or screen. I can't tell people enough how immature the mainstream japanese media is in terms of storytelling, structure, etc... I can't tell people enough how much I get disappointed when directors—or even authors themselves, sometimes—, sacrifice the integrity of a story for unworthy elements, or sometimes even without knowning because they don't haveenough experience or they don't really have an interesting story to tell. My guess is that most media comes from amateur authors or from authors who just like to "do the thing everyone's doing because it's popular" (looking at you, RPG inspired copy-paste settings). And due to the industry NEEDING to keep the gears turning, they end up having to resort to this "mid" or "low" content.

Not many times we encounter a work of art like this coming from the anime industry. While I DO enjoy anime—though I used to enjoy it a lot more as a teen or younger—, I have to be honest in that most anime is not really well-written, either due to unexperienced authors, midless trend-trains, lack of technique in writing in general, and sometimes it's even attributed to their culture: they have "their own" way of writing that does not suit us westerns, which includes overuse of dialogue, telling over showing, reiterating information and a lot of info dumping, etc... Everything writers are told not to do, they do it. (I'll make a small point clarifying that these "rules" CAN be broken, but man do anime authors take it to the extreme.)

Chainsaw Man truly is a great piece of art that will entertain critical minds, artists who know when art is good, and writers who know when the page is good. If we artists and writers enjoyed a piece like this just like a normal viewer who has no idea, then, the piece is incredibly good.

Enjoy Chainsaw Man, everybody!
