Review of Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld Part 2

So after Alicization Underworld 1st part started off promising, I was excited to see how this arc would end. Boy was I disappointed. I mean, it's not all bad- but my goodness this ending to the arc was a complete mess. Characters that are dead come back to help during crucial moments. The power of friendship is so annoying and overly done. Characters are either overly emotional or dead as paperweight. Anyways, here's my review. I'll keep it short as always. Story: 2/5 at best. A lot of things that happen make no sense. Like...warping in real players from other countries to fight. And the mainbaddies have the stupidest plans. The war actually wraps up relatively quick, thank god. But then something happens, which isn't explained clearly. Then some time jump to who knows when because it's never explained how long. Then these two are back and it's never explained how or why. Then another thing happens and it's never explained. WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? Nobody knows because this anime does a shit job explaining it. I had to read the goddamn comments in the comment section to understand the plot. If it's like that, then you've failed the LN in this aspect.

Characters: Whereas part 1 was really strong with their characters, this was a major let down. A lot of characters are really stupid. Like fucking retarded. Asuna becomes and emotional moron who puts herself and Kirito as risks because she tries to be holier than thou. I really ended up disliking her, which is shame because Asuna's my girl. I've always adored her ever since SAO season 1. But they make her really stupid. Alice, who was amazing the first part, doesn't do shit. Bercouli at least gets a good send off. The other side characters and leaders are stupid and annoying. You don't care about most of them. Kirito becomes even more idiotic. You really grow to dislike him. Whereas the original character had personality and you knew his strong traits, this one is like...a very startled and angry cat. You just want him to be okay and get off the screen.

Action: 1/5 at best. A lot of flashing lights and pretty motions, but here's the problem: NOTHING IS FUCKING EXPLAINED. Anyone can pull magical shit out of their ass whenever it's convenient. Magic and powers don't have some kind of rules or guide. For example, Kirito suddenly has like, some kind of force field shield- but he doesn't use it all the time. Why? And the mofo can heal people like Jesus Christ. How? The bad guys- oh my god so damn annoying. Nobody knows what the hell their powers are and it's never explained. Just a lot of pretty lights thrown around. It's like toddlers playing with their toys. Bam bam bam! Okay now you die.

Honestly, I think this anime did a pretty poor job representing what actually happened in the LN. Again, I DON'T READ THE LN, but I read the comments and they explain a lot of why certain things are happening. If this is how the comment viewer can understand your anime, then you failed. And I can see why- it felt extremely rushed. It's like the studio can't wait to wrap up this arc so they can already "set up" the next arc. Shame.

I still give it a 6/10 because despite all my complaints, there are still some good moments. The music is great as usual. I will say I think I will not be continuing SAO anymore even if they make more. It has gotten really...cringey, predictable, and boring. I wanna watch it for my girl Alice and Sinon, but I can't stomach and afford to waste more time watching characters be idiots.
